María del Rocío Grimaldo
Professor Grimaldo has been teaching at FSU-Panama since May 2011. Before that, she spent roughly 10 years in the professional writing world (print news and magazines, business and public relations writing). She currently teaches composition, communication, film, and literature at the undergraduate level.
She earned an AA in General Studies with Honors from Panama Canal College; a BA in Journalism with a minor in English from Texas A&M University, College Station; an MA in Professional Writing from University College Falmouth (now Falmouth University), United Kingdom; an MA in Literature from American University, Washington, D.C.; a postgraduate degree in teaching from Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá, and an MA in Spanish with a concentration in Latin American literature from New Mexico State University, Las Cruces.
Her current priority is to expand her knowledge of critical cultural communication and the effects of new media on interpersonal communication. She is specifically interested in the construction of gender in historical romance fiction, the evolution of interpersonal communication, and the cultural history of courtship rituals.
