Daniel Sega, PhD
RESEARCH INTERESTS
I am a dynamicist: an astrophysicist interested in the motion and orbital evolution of celestial bodies. I am also a philosopher of science, bringing my experience of doing modern-day astrophysics into the philosophic discussion about scientific knowledge and understanding.
Specifically, I research warped planetary rings and astrophysical disks, mostly theorizing on how these warps propagate and dissipate and what this can tell us about the overall properties of the disk itself. Most of my work so far has focused on the warps of Rings of Saturn. In the philosophy of science, I focus on the role of scientific explanation in astrophysics.
