Carla Pousa Caride is Associate Professor of the Program in International Affairs. She holds a Ph.D. (1999) from the Graduate School of International Studies at the University of Miami, Florida, and a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Comparative Law from the University of Miami, Florida (1993). She also received her degree in Law and Political Science at the University of Panama (1992).

She is certified in Conflict Analysis and in various terrorism-related courses. She also holds a degree in Higher Education, and is licensed to serve as a mediator.

Her main areas of interest include international law, transnational threats and national security policies. She participated in the United Nations Fellowship Program on Disarmament, and she gained considerable experience working at the Panamanian Public Security and National Defense Council. She is pursuing further study in International Security and Intelligence Studies
