Amarilis Montero
Prof. Amarilis Montero earned a BA in English from the University of Panama in 1986. In 1987 she was granted a Fulbright scholarship to pursue a Master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1989, Prof. Montero returned to Panama and started teaching EFL in bilingual schools and the University of Panama in Panama City. She started to teach Freshman Composition courses at Florida State University-Panama (FSU-Panama) in 2002 as an adjunct faculty. In 2013, she was appointed as a regular faculty and continues teaching Freshman Composition and Improving College Level Writing. Prof. Montero seeks to instill in her students that writing is not a mysterious activity for the gifted ones. Her goal is to make students see they can express their ideas in writing.
