FSU-Panama Seminole Awards

The FSU-Panama Seminole Awards recognize exceptional members of the FSU-Panama community who through their academic and professional achievements embody the three core values of FSU:  Vires (strength), Artes, (skill), and Mores (character).

FSU-Panama grants the following Seminole Awards:

  • The Seminole Award for Lifetime Achievement
  • The Seminole Award for Promising Young Alumnus or Alumna
  • The Seminole Award for Outstanding Student

THE SEMINOLE AWARD FOR LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT

The SEMINOLE AWARD FOR LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT recognizes FSU-PANAMA alumni whose outstanding community services, professional achievements and/or academic merits set an example for current and future generations of FSU students.  The awardee will be presented with the three FSU Torches and a commemorative plaque.

Eligibility:

  • Having earned a degree from Florida State University 10 or more years ago.
  • To be a citizen or a resident of the Republic of Panama.
  • To have community services, professional and/or academic achievements recognized at the national or international level.
  • Not being a member of the Board of Directors or an employee of FSU-Panama.
  • Not having any relative within the 4th grade of consanguinity or 3rd degree of affinity serving as a member of the Board of Directors, as full-time employee of FSU-Panama serving as a member of the Awards Selection Committee.

 

THE SEMINOLE AWARD FOR PROMISING YOUNG ALUMNI

The SEMINOLE AWARD FOR PROMISING YOUNG ALUMNI recognizes recent FSU-PANAMA graduates whose achievements in their brief professional career already demonstrate exceptional talent and leadership potential.  The awardee will be presented with two FSU Torches.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Having earned a degree from Florida State University within the last 10 years.
  • To be a citizen or a resident of the Republic of Panama.
  • To have demonstrated exceptional talent and leadership potential.
  • Not being a member of the Board of Directors or an employee of FSU-Panama.
  • Not having any relative within the 4th grade of consanguinity or 3rd degree of affinity serving as member of the Board of Directors, as full-time employee of FSU-Panama serving as a member of the Awards Selection Committee.

 

 

THE SEMINOLE AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING STUDENT

The SEMINOLE AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING STUDENT recognizes students whose achievements demonstrate exceptional talent and potential.  The awardee will be presented with one FSU Torch and a partial scholarship applicable towards defraying tuition and fees at FSU-Panama.
Eligibility criteria:

  • To have been enrolled as a student at FSU-Panama for no less than one academic year.
  • To be currently enrolled as a continuing student at FSU-Panama.
  • Not having any relative within the 4th grade of consanguinity or 3rd degree of affinity serving as member of the Board of Directors, as full-time employee of FSU-Panama serving as a member of the Awards Selection Committee.

 

 

NOMINATIONS

Nominations may be submitted by:

  • Currently enrolled FSU-Panama students.
  • Any active student organization of FSU-Panama.
  • Current or former members of the FSU-Panamá Board of Directors.
  • Current or former members of the FSU-Panamá faculty.
  • Current or former members of the FSU-Panamá staff.
  • Any active member of the Seminole Chapter of Panama.

 SELECTION

The Awards Selection Committee will be composed of the following members of the FSU Panamá community:

  • A representative of the Student Government of FSU-Panama.
  • A staff member of FSU-Panama.
  • A faculty member of FSU-Panama.
  • A member of the Board of Directors of FSU-Panama.
  • The President of the Seminole Chapter of Panama.

It shall be the duty of this committee to select the award recipients and to make such recommendations to the Rector of FSU-Panama.  The Rector will approve or reject the Award Selection Committee’s recommendations.
